Organic cotton, hemp, soy fiber, and bamboo fiber are fabrics made from plants that are grown without the use of chemicals or pesticides which are harmful to the earth. Organic wool comes from sheep that were not sprayed, injected, or treated in an inhumane manner. On top of these earth-friendly fabrics, some clothing is made from deconstructing vintage pieces and using the fabric to make something new-a form of recycling.

Isn't all cotton natural and healthy?

NO! Conventional cotton-grown with the use of pesticides-is one of the most chemically laden crops in the world. Although conventional cotton uses only 3% of the world's farmland, it uses a whopping 25% of the world's chemical pesticides and fertilizers! It takes almost one pound of chemicals to make a conventional cotton t-shirt. All of the cotton carried at Envi is organically grown without the use of pesticides or other chemicals. Better for the earth and everyone in it!

What is bamboo fabric?

This by far THE most frequently asked question! When people come into our store and see and feel the bamboo clothing, they don't believe us when we tell them what it's made of! Bamboo fabric is made from the pulp of the bamboo stalk, much like other wood pulp fabrics like Tencel. Bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world, making it resistant to insects and pests, so it doesn't require any pesticides. This also makes it a highly renewable resource! The fabric itself is AMAZING! Choose from finely knit sweaters from Avita that feel more luxurious than cashmere, or the soft t-shirts from Natural High Lifestyle that feel like a combination of cotton and silk! Once you try it on, you'll want your whole wardrobe to be made of bamboo! On top of the comfort and fit, bamboo is naturally antibacterial.

Does Envi make the clothing?

No. We are a boutique that buys clothing from other designers. We have a growing selection of designers ranging from local artists to larger companies. If you know of any new eco-conscious designers or artists please contact us!

What is the sizing on the clothing?

Each brand has a unique sizing system. We will note in an item's description if it runs very small or large, but if you have additional questions we would be happy to help you over the phone, through email, or in person at our boutique in Boston, MA. All phone and email inquiries will be replied to within 48 hours of receiving them. Email is the fastest way to get in touch with us and we will do our best to answer emails on the day they are received.
