About Envi
Envi was born from the melding of two philosophies on life. It was the fall of 2004; Callie, the founder, was in the beginning stages of making her lifelong dream of opening a clothing boutique a reality, but found herself more and more influenced by the eco-conscious lifestyle of her now long-time boyfriend. Haven, the boy, was living in a tipi, and hadn’t worn shoes in six months. With the collision of their respective high fashion and low-impact lifestyles, the pair came up with the idea for a hip boutique that sold eco-conscious clothing…but was this possible? Didn’t all eco-friendly clothing resemble a burlap sack? With a little effort (and some obscure Google searches) Callie was able to find a handful of designers who lived up to her standards of fashion and who put environmental and social responsibility at the forefront of their designs.

Whether Ursula, Callie’s partner, knew it or not, she had been in the plans for Envi from the very beginning. Callie knew that she would need a partner if her endeavor into the world of boutique ownership was going to be successful, and her college housemate was the first person that came to mind as she remember the days when their friends were torturing their bodies with beer and pizza, and Callie and Ursula would run into each other in the organic section of the grocery store. The only trouble would be luring Ursula away from a comfy corporate lifestyle into the frenzied world of small business ownership.

It turned out not to be much trouble at all. Ursula, a true fashion maven, was going through her own melding of lifestyles. Her now-husband, Gus, had her thinking more and more about the impact her shopping habit had on the earth. Although they shared a passion for living a healthy lifestyle, Gus was opening her eyes to the day-to-day practices he was accustomed to from growing up in Australia, where eco-consciousness is a way of life by necessity. Needless to say, the pair thought that the eco-fashion movement was an idea whose time had come, and Ursula was excited to be a part of it.

The name “Envi” sprung from the root of environment, and is a constant reminder of how we approach the fashion world. We landed our first location on Newbury Street, Boston's 5th Avenue, to remind us never to compromise on fashion either. Our goal is to keep the world of fashion and the actual world in perfect balance, and to give you all the latest fashions without taking from the world you have to live in. That handful of designers has turned into hundreds, eco-fashion has entered the mainstream, and now style doesn't have to come at such a high cost to our planet. So there you have it. Four philosophies blended into one: style without sacrifice. Be green with Envi.
